Job opportunities

We receive many enquiries about employment on BBC History Magazine. As we enjoy a very low turnover of staff on the magazine, jobs rarely become available on the team. However any vacancies that do arise will be posted on the Origin website at http://www.bbcmagazinesbristol.com/vacancylist.asp

Please do not apply to work on the magazine unless it is for a specific vacancy that is currently being advertised.

Freelance writing

We are always interested in receiving article ideas from freelance writers. However please bear in mind the following:

  • All our articles are written by professional historians or experienced journalists
  • Articles should either be hooked on to an anniversary, new book or television/radio programme, or relevant to a topical contemporary issue or the fruit of new research
  • Articles should fit in with the tone, format and type of content of the magazine so please make sure you are familiar with these
  • We receive a great many article ideas so we are not able to acknowledge receipt of unsolicited pitches or manuscripts. If you do not hear from us, you should assume that your idea has been unsuccessful on this occasion

Please send your ideas with a brief biography of yourself to Dave Musgrove BBC History Magazine, Tower House, Fairfax Street, Bristol BS1 3BN. or email davemusgrove@bbcmagazinesbristol.com
