[West, upper slab] Erected for a Lasting Remembrance / of one of the Best of women (& might / Boast of Kindred or Greatness ?) who / Deserved more than I can Say of her / And for whose Sake I have engaged / part of my Estate to Keep up / This Monument in repair to the / End of Time.
[West, lower slab] Beneath this Stone lyeth the mortal part / Of Her who once delighted every Heart / How Good She was and what her virtues were / Her Guardian Angel can alone declare / The friend that now this little tribute pays / Too exquisitely feels to speak Her praise / The sweet remembrance of a Wife so just / Affords him comfort though She sleeps in dust / ELZth Wife of BENJn BEAVER / In the 61st year of Her Age / Stop Youth / Take warning for here lyeth also the / remains of their beloved Nephew / THOS. LEACH who was lost July 14th 1761 / in swimming in the River Thames near / Caversham Lock to the great sorrow of / all who knew Him in the 16th Year of His Age. [South, lower slab] And of TH0s BEAVER, late of Binfield Esqr And RACHEL, his Wife Daughter of ......... this Town Gent And of their Second Son THOs Aged 34. And of MARY his Wife Sister to STAVERTON of this Parish Esqr Aged 39. And of their First Son Rd who Married MARY Daughter of Sir Rd HARISON, of Whistley & Hinton, in the Parish of Hurst & Sister to the then Sir Rd HARISON of Hurst. She died Aged 77 the said Rd her Husband died Aged 79 and here buried in Peace after Jointly with their Brother raised Three Troops of Horse for King Charles the First, & maintained them Years at their own expense: Viz. Two Troops at Sir Rd & one at the Said Rd Beavers. They served with ALGERNON SIMES, (who was slain at the first Fight at Newbury 20th Septr 1643 as were Lord SPENCER & Sir ROBt DORMON Bart) of the little Park Windsor. Esqr And with ALEXANDER TAUGHTON of the great Park Windsor, (under the EARL of CRAWFORD till he was taken & sent Prisoner to the Tower, where he lay'd Nine years) And afterwards they serv'd under their Brother LORD THOs HOWARD, Earl of Berkshire, Son of the DUKE of NORFOLK by his Majesty's appointment: the said Earl as well as the said Rd BEAVER married a Sister of the said Sir Rd HARISON, by whom he left Two Daughters the eldest married Sir HENRY WINCHCOMBE of Bucklebury, in this County, Bart And the other Daughter married a Son of Sir THOs PARKER. And Sir Rd HARISON married DOROTHY, the only Daughter & Heiress of Wm DEAN, of Nethercot in Oxfordshire, Esqr Niece to Sir JAMES DEAN, of Basingstoke, & to Rd DEAN, of this Town, Gent (the Two midle-fingers on her left Hand grew together) They served together in the Civil wars, suffered the Persecution of Sequestration, Composition &c: And of Rd BEAVER, Son of the aforesaid Rd & MARY Aged 49. [East, lower slab] And of MARY his Wife aged 80 who before marriage was MARY TAYLOR late of Binfield but then of this Town. And of Wm their Son aged 81, and of MARY his Wife, aged 46, she was Daughter & Heir to the said ALEXANDER TAUGHTON Esq by MARY his Wife who was sole Daughter & Heir of the said ALGERNON SIMES by LOUISE his Wife, Daughter of Sir Wm KIPPEX of Bewcot Berks Bart. And of Wm son of the said Wm & MARY aged 66. He was Heir to the said ALEXANDER's Widow & to the Widow BOWLEN the other Daughter to the said ALEXANDER: her Husband THOs BOWLEN was a Coal Merchant & greatly reduced by serving the Court, for he lost his Debt of Thousands by the unfortunate King being destroyed. The Estates of the said ALGERNON ALEXANDER & Rd were spent seised & so lost (Part now is a part of the great Park Simes Farm Pinnell Warren & Shrubs Hill near Virginia Water) [North, lower slab] To the loss of the last mentioned Wm BEAVER And of ELZth his Wife Aged 69 she was the eldest Daughter of HENRY DEAN (who was Son of the aforesaid Rd DEAN) of this Town by his Wife MARGt who was Sister to GENNOWAY, of St Dunstans London Silk Mercer. And of HENRY Second Son of the late Wm & ELIZth Aged 36 And of John their Fourth Son Aged 19. And of Wm their First Son Aged 61. And of three, of their Daughters who died in their Infancy And of the aforesaid MARGt DEAN Aged 86 (should be 36). And of the aforesaid HENRY DEAN in the 85 Year of his Age. He changed this Life for a better, he was greatly reduced by lending his Substance to JOHN HAWES of this Parish, Brewer, which he lost so that he kept a Publick House for his living Four or Five Years, & afterwards by King James Civil Wars more reduced having then nothing left but a Tenement of Three Pounds a Year. he was obliged to earn his living from the Age of Fifty Years (not being used to work) for above Thirty Years more till near his end by Gardening He was Patient, Healthy, of a Chearful & honest Heart. And of ANN his Second Wife Aged 81. She was Sister to the Wm BEAVER that married MARY TAUGHTON aforesaid. And of TH0s their Brother Aged 84. And of RACHE L his Wife Aged 85. And of MARY their Daughter Aged 87. And of BENn HAWKINS Aged 26 he married ELIZth eldest Daughter of the last mentioned Wm & ELIZth BEAVER. BENJn BEAVER HAWKINS at the Age of 8 was Buried in the midle Isle of this Church. As was also (Alf or Air or Mr) SIMON WEAVER Aged 76. Nephew of the first mentioned THOs & RACHEL BEAVER. Let this deter others least they ruin themselves & their Family as ALGERNON ALEXANDER & the said Rd did theirs. Here you see a pattern worthy of imatation. [North, upper slab] "Untill the Task of Busy Life is done. Then rest my weary bones beneath this Stone And wait his voice to Raise me from the Dust Who gave Salvation unto all that Trust".
