And at its heart is the Wall itself, an World Heritage Site with a string of forts and museums to explore - which together tell the 2,000-year-old story of the Roman Frontier in the north of England. Whether you’re looking for magnificent ruins in picturesque landscapes, fascinating museum collections or simply a great day out, you’re sure to find it at one of English Heritage’s four sites along Hadrian’s Wall. Housesteads Roman Fort, Chesters Roman Fort The best-preserved example of a Roman cavalry fort in Britain, Corbridge Roman Town, with impressive ruins of a garrison town, and Birdoswald Roman Fort.

Your conquest of The Wall will be aided by a comprehensive guide book provided, and a copy of Roger Clegg’s book, The Spirit of Hadrian's Wall published by Cicerone www.cicerone.co.uk.
